E.Y.B.S. 2017
Stars in the ring and in the eyes.

The 17th edition and still the same craze! Indeed, no fewer than 124 young people, half of them girls, from 12 countries gathered in Battice at the beginning of September (30/08 to 03/09) to follow the training of the European Young Breeders School and share their common passion for breeding and the preparation of competition animals. This training was attended by 8 internationally renowned instructors.

The big winner of the 2017 edition is Michael Fankhauser from Switzerland, who competed with the German team "JungzüchterAllianz". He also won the Best Clipper award and was ahead of Sara Carlsson of Sweden, who won a very nice second place. The top trio is completed by Samuel Oswald from Switzerland.

In addition to placing two youngsters in the top three, Switzerland is ranked first in the top of the top teams, followed by Germany with the "JungzüchterAllianz" team. Germany, which as every year is well represented, also places 3 other teams in the top 6 of the best teams. Let's note the very good performance of the "Polish Fed. Young Breeders" team, who finished third on the podium and young Jakob Szeligowski, who took part in the team and won the leaders' prize for the most deserving youngster.

Sweden is once again in the spotlight thanks to Alma Svensson, who wins the prize for the best young under-16 year old and is one of the top 20 in the overall standings!

It's a female trio that stands out during the showmanship. The best presenter award is won by Canadian Alana Mckinven, followed by Alessia Rabogliatti of Italy and Vanessa Crowley of Canada, a country where we find 5 youngsters in the top 20.

The Wallonia, which was present with 2 teams (Wal'holstein1 and 2) also distinguished itself thanks to the prize for best judge won by Quentin Van Daele of the Wal'holstein 1 team. The team also occupies a very nice 8th place in the ranking of the best teams.

The prize for the best young Walloon under 18 years of age is won by Robin and Aloïs Boutry respectively. These two promising youngsters, who have already distinguished themselves last year in this discipline, will represent Wallonia in a European competition of their choice. In the senior category (19 to 25 years old), Gilles Jonette and Quentin Van Daele, our best judge, stand out.

The entire team congratulates and thanks the Quebec official judge of the event, Joël Lepage, for his excellent work with the youth during the two days of competition. A big thank you also to the host families and breeders for the loan of the heifers and finally to all the people who are involved in the success of this school!

The EYBS, this training - the only one of its kind in the world, says Mr. Lepage - has shone again this year! What could be more beautiful than to unite all this promising youth for the future around our common passion!

It should be noted that over the years, the E. Y. B. S. remains the only school in the world to offer such a comprehensive, high quality education and to bring together so many countries. The foreign federations are loyal to this and always enjoy sending their youngsters to Battice.
